ONERA

ONERA (Office National d'Etudes et de Recherches Aérospatiales) is the French aerospace research centre. It plays a central role in France's scientific, technological and industrial development in the aeronautical, space and defence fields.

ONERA has been supporting the drone industry and the authorities for over 30 years. Drawing on all the skills of its departments, ONERA adopts a multidisciplinary approach to meet the current challenges of the drone industry:


- Acceptability & Integration into airspace: UTM / U-Space, Acoustic perception, Expertise/tools for regulatory changes, etc.

- Safety and Security: Safe avionics and navigation, Robust control law, In-flight reconfiguration, Man-system interfaces, Cybersecurity, Expertise/tools for certification and regulatory changes, Surveillance of malicious UAVs

- Performance and operability: Sensors, processing, data fusion, high-performance on-board computing, single or multi-UAV and swarm intelligence, mission planning and reconfiguration, data and link security, aerodynamics, energy, propulsion, EMC, acoustics, adapting autonomy levels, tactical and strategic decision-making capabilities, study of new aircraft configurations.

On the strength of its expertise, ONERA, in close partnership with the DGAC and manufacturers, designs and deploys technological solutions, tools and reference methods to anticipate, support and secure certification as well as regulatory developments on a European and international scale.
